Nowgam Blast Uncovers Faridabad Jaish-e-Mohammed Module Linked to Delhi Red Fort Explosion

Deadly Nowgam Explosion Sparks Pan-India Terror Investigation

A deadly blast near Nowgam police station in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, left nine people dead and several injured. The incident triggered a nationwide investigation, revealing a major Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module based in Faridabad, Haryana.

1. Blast in Nowgam

The chain of events began with a Friday night explosion at the Nowgam police station, claiming nine lives and injuring many others.

2. Case Origin

Investigators initially traced the threat to “objectionable posters” reported in Nowgam on October 19, which raised early security alerts.

3. Terror Module Uncovered

The poster investigation led authorities to a JeM inter-state module, uncovering plans for larger attacks across India.

4. Early Arrests in Kashmir

Between October 20–27, two suspects were arrested from Shopian and Ganderbal, marking the first breakthrough in the case.

5. Faridabad Connection

Investigations expanded to Faridabad, Haryana. Key arrests included Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Umar, both associated with Al Falah Medical College, who were central to the terror module.

6. Weapons Seized

On November 7, authorities recovered an AK-56 rifle and ammunition from a hospital in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir.

7. Massive Explosives Haul

A critical seizure occurred on November 10 at the residence of Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq, an Imam in Faridabad, yielding 2,563 kg of explosives. Additional raids recovered 358 kg of explosives, detonators, and timers.

8. Total Seized Material

In total, security forces confiscated approximately 3,000 kg of bomb-making materials, averting a potentially catastrophic attack.

9. Delhi Red Fort Blast

On November 14, a blast occurred at Red Fort, Delhi. CCTV footage identified Umar, the Faridabad module member, as the driver of the vehicle used in the explosion.

10. Explosives Link

Investigators confirmed that the type of explosive used in Delhi matched the stockpile seized from Faridabad, establishing a direct connection.

11. Possible Motive

Authorities suggest Umar may have acted out of panic, following the crackdown on the Faridabad module. Whether the blast was pre-planned or accidental is still under investigation.

12. NIA Investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case to further probe the terror network, uncover its operations, and prevent future attacks.
