The Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj, hosted the Passing Out Ceremony for the 52nd batch of Forest Guards under the Department of Environment & Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A total of 19 newly trained Forest Guards successfully completed their six-month basic forestry training and received their certificates.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, attended the event as the chief guest. He took the Guard of Honour and presented medals and course completion certificates to the trainees. He encouraged them to serve with dedication, integrity, and professionalism to protect and conserve the rich forests of the Islands. He also stressed the importance of staying updated with new technologies and advancements in forestry.
Shri Ravi Horo, IFS, Addl. PCCF (Planning & Development), served as the guest of honour and emphasized the critical role of Forest Guards. He urged them to work closely with local communities and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) to ensure effective forest management.
The event was attended by senior forest officials, scientists, local PRI members, and families of the trainees. Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, CCF (Research & Working Plan)-cum-Chairperson, welcomed the gathering, while Shri A C Tilak, Director of the Forest Training Institute, presented the course report.
The Topper’s Gold Medal was awarded to Smti Indu Nikhil for outstanding performance in both theory and practical sessions. She also won two Silver Medals in Biodiversity Conservation and Field Management. Shri Sagar Munda secured the Silver Medal in Forest Survey & Engineering, while Ms. Nikita Haldar received the Silver Medal in Forestry.
