Class 6 Boy in Uttar Pradesh Loses Vision After Teacher’s Assault

In a tragic incident in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, a Class 6 student named Aditya Kushwaha has lost vision in his left eye after being struck by his teacher, Shailendra Tiwari, with a stick. Despite undergoing two surgeries, Aditya’s eye condition remains critical, prompting his mother to seek justice from the district child welfare committee.

Details of the Incident
The incident occurred on March 9, when the teacher instructed Aditya to call some students playing outside. When the students did not respond, the teacher became angry and hit Aditya with a stick. Aditya recounted, “After I was hurt, he took me for treatment. They put some eyedrops and made me lie down in the class. My classmates informed my mother about what happened.”

Mother’s Plea for Justice
Aditya’s mother, Srimati, stated that her son attends a government-run school in Newari. She described how the teacher threw a stick at Aditya, which resulted in bleeding from his eye. Although the family initially approached the police, they faced difficulties in registering a complaint until the education department intervened.

Medical Examination and Surgeries
An eye examination on April 15 confirmed severe damage to Aditya’s eye. He was taken to an eye hospital in Chitrakoot, where he underwent two surgeries. Sadly, doctors informed the family that the eye could not be saved. During this time, the teacher allegedly offered ₹10 lakh to the family to keep the matter quiet, but they declined the offer.

Ongoing Investigation
Following intervention by the child welfare committee, a case has been registered against the teacher for voluntarily causing hurt. Kamlendra Kushwaha, an education department official, stated that they are taking the matter seriously and have requested a report from local education officials. Action will be taken once the report is received.
